Winter 2022 – 2023

This year I am so excited to welcome you along to yoga classes at Alp Hotel Myoko, in central Akakura Onsen, located on the road across Myoko Snowsports, keep walking up towards the ski run, next to A.I.R Myoko. Once in Alp Hotel, walk past reception, walking towards the stairs, walk down and turn left to the yoga space. For more information and to book your space CLICK HERE.

I’ll be teaching 4 yoga classes a week Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays at 5:00 – 6:00 pm. Feel free to email me on nanacoyoga@gmail.com or DM me on instagram HERE to save your space. If you’re working seasonally this weekend in Myoko, let me know to offer you staff price. You’ll also have access to the onsen at Alp Hotel, ask at reception to pay, ¥500 to onsen, ¥600 with a towel.

Yoga is the perfect way to support not just your body after a day on the mountain, but your mind and your soul. Yoga isn’t about how flexible you are, it’s a way to support your body, to gain more awareness of yourself. Accepting the good and the bad, being kinder to yourself, talking less shit about yourself and taking what you experience on the yoga mat out into life. Whether you’re trying to balance, you find it hard to do a pose, or it comes to you easily, noticing what’s going on in your body and how your mind reacts, is much more important than how flexible you are. Join me this winter for a yoga lesson click here.

It’s been a really weird two years, with the Japanese borders being closed, Myoko businesses which depend on tourism have been struggling financially. I thought that Japan would keep it’s borders shut. The culture isn’t a one that deals with changes easily, let alone in a fast manner and has a history of closing it’s borders for 265 years during its Sakoku era.

Yet who knew, we would finally be here, the borders of Japan were announced as reopened in October 2022. I honestly gave up on the idea that we would be able to welcome visitors from abroad again.

It’s feeling a lot more livelier in Akakura Onsen, and a lot busier on the slopes. The past two years we were blessed with a abundance of snow, with 24 meters of snowfall, it required those who live in Myoko to do a lot of snow clearing. It was a great time to ride, with fresh lines, barely any tourism, as Japanese people have very little holidays other than their national holidays off.

I’m enjoying seeing friends’ businesses welcome back guests, make sure to support local Myoko lodges, hotels, shop, bars and restaurants during your stay.

So if you’re visiting for a holiday welcome, if you’re here working welcome and see you on the mat or on the slopes this winter.
