This too shall pass, is a message which I’ve heard before but seems so relevant right now, which I wanted to incorporate into a yoga lesson.

We don’t know exactly when we’ll have the all clear from coronavirus, when we’ll be able to do things like travel, go to a restaurant, visit friends and family abroad, like we used to before this global pandemic. However one thing that’s for sure is that “This too shall pass”.

Living out in the lovely forest in the mountains of Myoko, I feel like I’m in social isolation however I now realise I could have met with people in the past, without a tiny bit of fearing of infecting them or them infecting me. So weird!

I heard “This too shall pass” in a 21 days of Abundance meditation, by Deepak Chopra, that I was invited to on Facebook.

To keep it short the story talks of a king, who’d like a message to read in a serious or terrible situation, that he can keep in his diamond ring. His servant, who has always been by his side since the King was a child, gives him the message and tells him to check it when he is in a bad situation.

When the king’s land is taken by rebels, he’s chased and he comes to the edge of the cliff on horseback. He checks the message which reads “This too shall pass”. Luckily, the footsteps of the horses of the men who are chasing him disappear.

He eventually wins back his kingdom, his people applause and praise him. The servant tells him to check the message again. The king is confused, the people love him, he’s accomplished a great feat. The wise servant tells him that this message also applies to the good moments too.

“This too shall pass” can be used when you are hopeless, when bad thing, things, have happened to you, it gives you hope that you will feel better, that the situation will get better.

While also “This too shall pass” can also be used when you’re happy, joyful, having a great day or moment, it brings you to the moment to truly appreciate what you have, as it doesn’t last.

I love this message, it’s both uplifting but also thoughtful.

So I wanted to dedicate a yoga lesson to this saying, as a hopeful way to cope with these strange times.

As we’re all having our own experience during this time of a pandemic, I’m sure some of which is positive and some of which is negative.

If you’d like to join me for a live yoga lesson, here’s a list of my online yoga classes, check out the schedule here.
