Day 4

‘Get Started’ Beginner Yoga Challenge

The pose for Day 4 is Mountain Pose or Tadasana in sanskrit.

Tadasana is a foundational and basic pose, anyone can do this pose and it’s always great to come back to this pose during a yoga lesson.

I always teach it in each class, because I live in the mountains and the pose is called mountain pose.

So I love to tell students to feel the strength of the mountains, while looking out over the mountains (if there’s a view)  it’s a bad dad style joke, but who doesn’t need a little laugh in a yoga class!

The other benefits to tadasana, is that it’s a very grounding pose, feeling your feet firmly on top of the mat.

The simplicity of the pose, means that you can introduce mindfulness to your body, see how it feels and see how your mind feels too.

It’s also a great pose, to improve your posture, to feel which side you lean on more often and to realign your body to be more even.

In a yoga class, I love to tell students to try to take this pose outside, off of the mat, to try to notice whenever your standing up, at home or in the queue / line at the supermarket, to see how you’re standing and get into a mini Tadasana.

Here’s a list of the benefits:

So now you know the benefits and you’ve learnt a little more about this pose. Give the video above a try and if you enjoyed it, let me know!

Don’t forget to #getstartedyogachallenge if you post this on instagram, so I can see your progress.
